Classes
The Rally Technical Rules for Historic/Classic Vehicles are a subset of the American Rally Association Rally Technical Rules. Specifically, these are additional restrictions to Article 3 and replacement of Article 4 intended to be compatible with the Open 2WD Class rules. Only 2WD vehicles are eligible for these classes.
These rules are intended to be compatible with technical and class rules of other sanction bodies as well.
The FIA has created regulations in Appendix K so that Historic Cars may be used for competitions under a set of rules that preserve the specifications of their period and prevent the modifications of performance and behavior which could arise through the application of modern technology. Historic competition is not simply another formula in which to acquire trophies, it is a discipline apart, in which one of the essential ingredients is devotion to the cars and to their history.
